Highlight, comment and mark up a PDF
Select text to highlight, underline or strike it out, add sticky notes with replies, draw with a pencil and drop approval stamps — then export a PDF any reader can open.
How to use Annotate PDF
- Open your PDF.
- Pick Highlight (or Underline, Strike, Squiggly) and drag across text.
- Add notes, callouts, shapes or stamps; reply to comments in the side panel.
- Export, keeping comments as standard PDF annotations.
When to use it
- Reviewing a contract or a paper before a meeting.
- Marking up a draft with approvals and requested changes.
- Studying: highlighting readings and adding margin notes.
What to expect
- Review threads are local — there is no shared online review, by design.
- Highlighting needs a text layer; for scans, run OCR first or draw an area highlight.
- Measurement tools for drawings are planned for a later release.
Questions
Will other PDF readers show my comments?
Yes. Notes and highlights are written as standard PDF annotations and also drawn on the page, so they show up everywhere.
Can I export just the comments?
Yes — the Comments list has an export to Markdown summary with page numbers.
