Compare two PDFs

See what changed between two versions: added, deleted and moved text, visual differences as a heatmap, an overlay slider or blink view, and pages that were inserted or removed.

How to use Compare PDF

  1. Open the original (or use the document you're editing).
  2. Choose the second PDF.
  3. Step through the change list, filter by type, and switch views.
  4. Export a report as PDF, Markdown or JSON.

When to use it

  • Checking a contract revision before signing.
  • Reviewing what a colleague changed in a report.
  • Proofreading a reprint against the approved file.

What to expect

  • Pages are matched by content, so reordered pages are found — within about 40 pages of their original position.
  • Visual comparison works best when both versions have the same page size.

Questions

Does it find changes in scanned PDFs?

Visual differences, yes. For text differences, OCR both files first.
